5K Run for the Future to benefit the ROI

This year ASTRO will be holding the first 5K Run for the Future to benefit the ROI. The race will take place along the San Diego waterfront behind the convention center. You may sign up for the race during the registration process online or by completing the attendee registration form. Preregistration is required. The race fee will include race t-shirt, bib and post-race refreshments. The race will occur rain or shine.
Participation in the 5K ensures your support of Radiation Oncology Institute (ROI) and its mission to enhance and promote the enriched role of the radiation oncologist in the world cancer community by supporting research and education on the life-saving and quality of life benefits of radiation therapy.

Take the $5,000 5K Race Challenge!
The Premier Sponsor of the 5K Run for the Future, Radiation Business Solutions (RBS), is offering an exciting opportunity for anyone willing to take our race challenge. RBS is extending a challenge to any race participant that can run faster than RBS employee, John Ramsay! The winner will be the recipient of a $5,000 donation in their name to the ROI. A minimum $250 donation allows you to participate in the challenge and toe the start line with RBS employee John Ramsay. John is not a professional runner but has completed the Leadville 100 Miler and now wants to try his luck at short speed work. Don’t miss this unique opportunity to help ensure the future of the profession by having a personal investment in the ROI today.

RACE START/FINISH Location and Time
Start/Finish- The start and finish line will be located next to the San Diego Convention Center, right behind the San Diego Marriott and Marina Hotel. We will have signage directing you to the start/finish line area.
Race Start time: 6:30 a.m.
We will be closing the race course off promptly at 7:30 a.m.
Participant Waiver Information - MUST READ
Please read waiver below carefully. It includes a release of liability and waiver of legal rights and deprives you of the ability to sue certain parties. Do not agree to this document unless you have read and understood it in its entirety. By agreeing to this by form, you acknowledge that you have read and understood the waiver presented to you as part of the registration process. You also acknowledge that you understand and agree that this event carries certain inherent dangers and risks which may or may not be readily foreseeable, including personal injury, property damage or death. Your ability to participate in this event is subject to your consent to the waiver and by agreeing, you accept and agree to the terms of the waiver and release of liability.
5k Run for the Future to benefit the ROI race waiver
I understand that participating in the 5k run for the Future to benefit the ROI (the Event) is voluntary and I assume all risks associated with participating in this Event. I understand that participation in the Event is potentially hazardous, and that I should not participate unless I am medically able and properly trained. I understand that the Event may be held over public roads and facilities open to the public during the Event and upon which hazards are to be expected. Participation carries with it certain inherent risks that cannot be eliminated completely ranging from minor injuries to catastrophic injuries including death. I understand and agree that in consideration of being permitted to participate in the Event, I, for myself, my heirs, executors and administrators, forever waive, release and give up any claims against the San Diego Unified Port District, City of San Diego, PRA Destination Management San Diego, their officers and employees, PRA Destination Management’s contracted supplier partners, all other sponsoring and co-sponsoring companies and all municipal agencies whose property and/or personnel are used, and other sponsoring or co-sponsoring company(ies), agency(ies) or individual(s), the American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO), its officers, employees and volunteers, the organizers of the Event sponsors, Event promoters, Event producers, Event officials, Event Staff, property owners, administrators, contractors, vendors, volunteers and all other persons or entities involved with the Event, for any injuries I may suffer as a result of my participation in the Event. I hereby consent to receive medical treatment which may be deemed advisable during this Event and understand that I am solely responsible for all costs relating to medical transportation and/or evacuation. I will additionally permit the use of my name and pictures in broadcasts, telecasts, newspapers, brochures, etc., and also understand the entry fee is non-refundable. As a participant, I certify that all information in this form is true and complete. I have read the entry information provided for the Event and certify my compliance with my agreeing on the Annual Meeting attendee registration from. The 5k Run for the Future to benefit the ROI and PRA San Diego reserve the right to refuse any entry application.
BY INDICATING YOUR ACCEPTANCE OF THIS AGREEEMENT AND WAIVER, YOU ARE AFFIRMING THAT YOU HAVE READ AND UNDERSTAND THIS AGREEMENT AND WAIVER AND FULLY UNDERSTAND ITS TERMS. YOU UNDERSTAND THAT YOU ARE GIVING UP SUBSTANTIAL RIGHTS, INCLUDING THE RIGHT TO SUE. YOU ACKNOWLEDGE THAT YOU COMPLY WITH THE AGREEMENT AND WAIVER FREELY AND VOLUNTARILY, AND INTEND BY YOUR ACCEPTANCE TO BE A COMPLETE AND UNCONDITIONAL RELEASE OF ALL LIABILITY TO THE GREATEST EXTENT ALLOWED BY LAW.
