Program Description
Head and neck cancer refers to a heterogeneous group of tumors that involve the oral cavity, oropharynx, nasopharynx, hypopharynx, larynx, salivary glands, thyroid glad and paranasal sinuses. Treatment for head and neck cancer is complex and depends on several factors, including the specific type of cancer, tumor size and stage, precise anatomic location of the tumor and overall health status of the individual patient. Radiation therapy, surgery and chemotherapy are the mainstays of treatment for head and neck cancer patients. New molecular biologic therapies are now showing promise to further improve outcomes.
