Program Description

Statement of Need
According to the American Cancer Society, nearly 175,000 Americans will learn they have lung cancer this year. More Americans die each year from lung cancer than from breast, prostate and colorectal cancers combined (www.lungcancer.org).

Surgery, chemotherapy and radiation therapy are typically used to treat lung cancer. A multidisciplinary meeting will promote interaction between these discipline in order to achieve the best possible outcome for the patient. This model will also bring together physician specialists from around the world for interdisciplinary discussions on the latest research and state-of-the-art care for thoracic cancers.

Learning Objectives

  • Report current standards of care in thoracic cancers.
  • Identify current novel therapies and agents currently under investigation in thoracic malignancies.
  • Describe and discuss the role of multimodality therapy in thoracic cancers.
  • Investigate the latest advances in the management of thoracic cancers.
  • Explore supportive outcomes.

Target Audience
The meeting is designed for radiation, medical, and surgical oncologists, nurses, scientists, residents-in-training, and other healthcare professionals interested in the treatment, screening, evaluation and management of thoracic cancers.
